It's time to get those abstract submissions in! Abstracts for the first round of submissions are due October 31, 2022.
The MLA | SLA '23 National Program Committee (NPC) is excited to read your proposals!
Our new NPC colleagues and SLA members Nabi Hasan and Andy Shimp recently sent a message to SLA members to encourage them to submit abstracts for the meeting. I'm including parts of their message here because it also illustrates MLA's hopes for the meeting content. They said:
One of the key goals of an SLA conference is to broaden our understanding of the information profession, and that’s especially true of our 2023 conference. We’re collaborating with the Medical Library Association (MLA) in 2023, and we’re looking forward to the fresh thinking, new insights, and unique perspectives that this partnership is sure to provide.
I'm looking forward to learning new perspectives on librarianship from our SLA colleagues, too. Nabi and Andy also shared this in their message:
As SLA’s representatives on the MLA | SLA 2023 National Program Committee, we encourage you to submit an abstract. One of SLA’s strengths is that our members work in diverse settings, so we bring a wide range of experiences and ideas to discussions about librarianship and information management. The 2023 conference is an opportunity to share our broad insights with other special librarians, who in turn can inform us about the unique challenges they face and the lessons they have learned.
I wholeheartedly agree. We may face challenges that are different from our SLA colleagues, but we have so much to learn from each other. The perspectives and experiences represented at our meeting will be sure to inspire you for a long time afterwards.
MLA | SLA '23 is a great opportunity to share your work and contribute your lessons learned to a diverse group of librarians.
