You're Invited to Attend the 2022 South Central Chapter of MLA Annual Meeting

The 2022 South Central Chapter of the MLA Annual Meeting will be held September 22–27 in Houston, Texas. The conference will be conducted in-person at The Westin Oaks Houston at the Galleria.

Registration is now open!

The standard registration rate is $320 for members and $420 for non-members. The deadline for regular registration is September 8.

Dr. Hotez is Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine, Professor, and Health Policy Scholar at Baylor College of Medicine; Co-Director of the Center for Vaccine Development and Endowed Chair in Tropical Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital; Fellow in Disease and Poverty at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University; Senior Fellow at the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at Texas A&M University; and Founding Editor in Chief of PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases.

Lou Weaver

Lou Weaver is co-chair for the Queer Health Committee at Doctors for Change; a founding member and current Clinic Coordinator for the Trans Legal Aid Clinic of Texas; and a consultant on LGBTQ+ issues specializing in transgender topics within healthcare organizations, law enforcement, and businesses.

Pandemic Precautions

The Galleria does not currently require face masks or proof of vaccination to visit, but they do ask that you wear a face mask if not fully vaccinated. Hand sanitizer dispensers are stationed throughout the property.

For the conference, the SCC/MLA Health & Safety Policy requests that attendees, exhibitors, and staff should be up to date with vaccines (including boosters) for COVID-19. Masks are strongly encouraged at all events. People who have been exposed to, tested positive for, or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 within fourteen days of the event should not attend.
