Holst Oral History Available Now

Ruth Holst, AHIP, FMLA (interviewed by James Shedlock, AHIP, FMLA) directed the library at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee for thirty-two years. Subsequently, she was associate director of the Greater Midwest Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine based at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was the first hospital librarian to present the Janet Doe Lecture in 1990, and she was MLA president in 2010/11. Holst is recognized for her contributions to the formation of library consortia, disaster information preparedness, expert searching, and advocacy for hospital librarians. She edited The Medical Library Association Guide to Managing Health Care Libraries, published in 2000.
