In case you haven’t heard, a new Collection Development and Resource Sharing symposium will be part of the MLA ‘22 annual conference in New Orleans. It’s entitled The Big Not-So-Easy: A Symposium on 21st Century Health Sciences Collection Development & Resource Sharing, and it’s free to all MLA ‘22 in-person attendees.
Past MLA annual conference attendees expressed interest in having more collection development and resource sharing content at MLA annual conferences. The 2022 National Program Committee responded to their feedback and authorized a symposium for MLA ‘22 in New Orleans.
You can expect engaging sessions in a variety of formats that will help you develop skills and knowledge in collection development and resource sharing. MLA member topic area experts and publisher representatives on the planning committee have identified these areas as the focus of the symposium:
- Collection development policies and philosophy
- Copyright
- Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
- Librarian/publisher relationships
- Negotiation
- Trends and tools in collection development
