MLANET This Week (8/8/2024)

One Thing

We were glad to see The Midcontinental Chapter’s Early Career Librarian Task Force posting yesterday in MLA caucuses. Check out their crowdsourced MCMLA Early Career Health Science Librarian Resources Guide—you might find something you can use at any level of your career!

What We’re Working On

Tickets

We’re delighted with the simple ticketing system that’s been installed on MLANET. It’s helped clear (some of our) email inboxes and has been helpful in gathering and sharing solutions across multiple staff members. Not reinventing the wheel is a great time saver!

If you’re already logged in on MLANET, visit the support page to submit a ticket; if you’re still having trouble with your login, use the form also available on that page to contact us. We create a ticket from those forms, and the email you get, from a form or a ticket, will link to your submission or ticket number.

We really appreciate some of the items you’ve discovered! Please note—we will NOT close tickets if you tell us not to, and we generally will not close them until we have confirmation from you that the request is complete.

Prioritizing

There are still big pieces of MLANET we are working on and an effort this week is prioritizing what needs to come first. That is based on many factors, including expectations, value, visibility, audience impact, need (benefits), program schedules, budget impact, and level of effort. Effort in this case can mean anything from a staff edit (low impact) to behind-the-scenes code adjustments, or workflow builds (high effort). In some cases, we’ll implement interim solutions to make sure MLA activities can continue while more complex builds will be implemented later.
