Call for Nominations for the 2025 Election

The 2024/2025 Nominating Committee would like to hear from you. Please consider recommending your colleagues or yourself to serve as president or as a member of the board of directors for the 2025 MLA Election. You can submit nominations by completing this form by Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Some of the characteristics the nominating committee considers when selecting the election slate include:

• Active participation and membership within MLA
• Vision
• Strategic Thinking
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong communication skills
• Evidence of collaboration
• Knowledge of upcoming trends/opportunities/threats to our profession
• Ability to incorporate DEI skills and inclusion of diverse ideas

Please include information on why you think the person you are nominating would be a good candidate for the board or presidency. You can review the job description for MLA President and Board of Directors for inspiration. Most of our board meetings are held online, but there are some travel expectations around the annual meeting. Funding is available for some of these expenses. Please feel free to reach out to any of our MLA Nominating Committee members if you have questions.

This year’s slate will include two candidates for president-elect and four candidates for the two open MLA Board member positions. As mentioned above, the committee will consider professional and leadership experience, involvement in MLA, and representation among several categories including region and communities. We encourage you to consider running for leadership positions and to nominate your colleagues. An association is only as strong as its membership, and the most important qualification for being a leader is the desire to make our association the best it can be.
