kit containing series of cardseach presenting a promotional problem
to be solved, tools that can be used to solve the problem, and a reality-based
example of how the problem was solved by health sciences librarians.

MLA's consumer brochure, Deciphering Medspeak
was developed to help consumers translate common medical terms, or "medspeak."
The brochure contains a glossary of terms, a medical shorthand guide,
and a list of the "Top Ten Most Useful Health Websites." One single
copy FREE; additional copies
available for sale. The brochure is also available in Spanish.

MLA has released three disease-specific versions of its popular "Deciphering
Medspeak" brochure. The brochures focus on breast cancer, diabetes,
and heart disease. Each brochure features a list of Rx riddles or abbreviations
as well as a glossary of medspeak terms and MLA-recommended Websites
related to each disease.

The Medical Library Association's Board of Directors
put together the Communications Tool Kit to serve as an easy-to-use
guide and handbook providing techniques and suggestions on how to conduct
a communications campaign. The entire publication is available online
and features a sample
news release, a
step-by-step- guide to creating a special event, and an Information
Rx form that can be copied and given to physicians in your institution.
