  • MLA Advocacy Toolbox: A Practical Guide to Communicating Your Value [MO]
    New this year, the MLA Advocacy Toolbox is a desktop reference kit containing a series of cards—each presenting a promotional problem to be solved, tools that can be used to solve the problem, and a reality-based example of how the problem was solved by health sciences librarians. So far, eight cards have been produced with additional cards mailed quarterly along with issues of the Journal of the Medical Library Association. The October 2003 set of cards will focus on marketing. Watch for it!
  • DocKit #12: Marketing the Consumer Health Information Service
    A collection of representative, unedited library documents from a variety of institutions, DocKit #12 will help you get consumers in touch with quality health information. Readers will learn how to plan marketing projects and create promotional materials for both internal and external customers of the library.
  • Medspeak Brochure
    MLA's consumer brochure, Deciphering Medspeak was developed to help consumers translate common medical terms, or "medspeak." The brochure contains a glossary of terms, a medical shorthand guide, and a list of the "Top Ten Most Useful Health Websites." One single copy FREE; additional copies available for sale. The brochure is also available in Spanish.
  • Communications Tool Kit
    The Medical Library Association's Board of Directors put together the Communications Tool Kit to serve as an easy-to-use guide and handbook providing techniques and suggestions on how to conduct a communications campaign. The entire publication is available online and features a sample news release, a step-by-step- guide to creating a special event, and an Information Rx form that can be copied and given to physicians in your institution. A printed copy of the Tool Kit is also available (free to members) by contacting Tomi Gunn, mlams@mlahq.org, 312.419.9094 x11.
