Community of Caring

This community of caring site is a resource for the medical library community to address issues related to the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center.

The site captures the outpouring of messages of compassion and support received from and sent to the medical library community in response to the September 11 World Trade Center and Pentagon tragedies.

The site also provides

  • bibliographies and information resources to assist librarians in addressing disaster and recovery issues in their libraries and institutions;
  • links to information resources on the web; and
  • the Library Community Statement on Freedom of Speech and Access to Information edorsed by the MLA Board of Directors at its September meeting.

MLA expresses its appreciation to MEDLIB-L subscribers for the abundance of helpful resources generated on the MEDLIB-L list since September 11 which provide the substantive portion of information contained on this site. Every attempt will be made to keep the site updated weekly.
