MLA ’17 General Information

117th Annual Meeting and Exhibition

This is the premier destination for medical librarians and related health information professionals to advance your skills and knowledge and give you the necessary tools to overcome challenges and help your organization succeed. The meeting is a 4-and-1/2 day interdisciplinary educational experience, with a 3-day commercial exhibition that attracts over 100 exhibitors from around the world. Meeting highlights include the John P. McGovern Award Lecture and over 200 peer-reviewed papers, lightning talks, and 240 posters.

Online Program and Itinerary Planner

The MLA '17 Online Program shows room assignments, abstracts, speakers, and many other program details. The Online Program is fully searchable so that you can browse through the program or use keyword search to quickly find specific sessions that match your interests. The Itinerary Planner allows you to save selected sessions into your custom itinerary. Important, in order to save your itinerary, you must be registered for the meeting.

Continuing Education

Join your colleagues at MLA '17  for innovative and practical continuing education (CE) courses. CE courses are a great way to learn new roles and stay at the forefront of the health information profession. Courses will take place on Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27. The Librarian’s Role in Reproducibility of Research Symposium will take place on Saturday, May 27.

Program Sessions

Program sessions will feature contributed papers, lightning talks, and special content sessions. Special content sessions may include a panel of invited speakers, a single invited speaker, a facilitated book discussion, and so on. Learn more about program sessions and how to submit an abstract. The online Submission Form for author abstracts opened August 2016. Submission due date is October 10, 2016.

Posters

Posters will be located in the Hall of Exhibits. Attendees can view peer-reviewed posters on MLANET starting about three weeks before the meeting.

Meeting Venue 

Washington State Convention Center705 Pike St, Seattle, WA 98101, will be the site for meetings and the Hall of Exhibits.

Service Project to Benefit Mary's Place

Monetary donations can be made online at marysplaceseattle.org. Make sure to note “In honor of MLA” in the online tribute box.

A donation drop box is located near at the Hospitality Desk for clothing, personal care products such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and soaps and miscellaneous items such as blankets, towels, canes, and Metro Bus Tickets.

Post-MLA Cruise to Alaska

MLA has arranged a post-meeting Alaskan cruise from June 2–9, 2017.
