Elaine Martin: MLA '18 Janet Doe Lecturer

emartin.pngElaine R. Martin has the honor of presenting the 2018 Jane Doe Lecture on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 9AM.

Since 2016 Elaine has served as the Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the Countway Library at Harvard University. In this position, she oversees a world-renowned collection of research,  historical, and rare materials. Her leadership at Countway is focused on strategic planning, development, and the promotion of library services to the faculty and students of the schools of medicine, dentistry, and public health at Harvard.

From 1998-2016, Elaine was the Director of the Lamar Soutter Library at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and also served as the Director of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, New England Region. At UMass, she led the library through a period of much transformation and change.

A passionate teacher, Elaine is a long-time instructor and mentor at the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences, with a focus on courses in medical librarianship, research and data science, and library management.  She has published widely on data science librarianship and is the founding editor of the Journal of eScience Librarianship.

We look forward to the insights and ideas that Elaine will share in her Doe lecture at MLA 18!
