The tourist season starts in Seattle during the month of May, when the rain lets up and the weather warms up. Plan to maximize your visit and use the discounted meeting hotel rate by staying at the centrally located Sheraton Seattle Hotel. Make your hotel reservation with onPeak now.

The Local Assistance Committee has developed a guide to local attractions, which contains the best of two-to-five hour adventures, day trips, tours, and local arts, theater, and other events around Seattle to suit your interests and time. Whether the weather is cool and misty or sunny and warm, you are sure to create new memories by taking advantage of some of most noteworthy attractions in Seattle, the Puget Sound area, and Washington State.

If you plan to bring your family, there are plenty of ways to combine professional time and kid-friendly adventures on land or sea, while playing pinball or digging into local history at museums or public gardens. Local tours of Theo Chocolate and the Seattle Underground will tickle your taste buds and surprise you with Seattle trivia.

Photographers, hikers, and nature lovers can realize their dreams of mountains, volcanoes, or glaciers in the wild outdoors of Washington State. Take a steep hike up a favorite local mountain, Mount Si (also known as “Big Si.”), which climbs 3,200 feet in 4 miles, and have lunch on the ledge. You will need sturdy hiking boots to experience the glaciers of Mount Rainier, which towers over the Puget Sound, especially on clear days when, in the local’s phrase, “The mountain is out!” Further afield, you can stare down the gaping, fractured north face of Mount St. Helens and see the results of the 1980 volcanic eruption and rebirth of the land.

With so much to choose from, you might just need some downtime or fitness fun to rejuvenate. We’ve got ideas for that, too! Get in some relaxation by taking a ride on the water, biking around town, trying a local beer or wine, or watching one of the many movies set and filmed in the Emerald City.

We are all looking forward to seeing you in Seattle for MLA ’17!
