MLA Announces New Copublishing Partnership
The Medical Library Association (MLA) is pleased to announce that it has signed a new copublishing contract with Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group (RLPG). MLA looks forward to working with RLPG on new book projects and exploring opportunities in innovative publishing formats and reaching wider audiences.
RLPG, headquartered in Lanham, Maryland, is one of North America’s largest independent publishers. The company publishes almost 1,500 new titles each year, covering virtually all fields in the humanities and social sciences. All titles are released simultaneously in paper and e-book editions. MLA is pleased to add its voice to RLPG’s strong list of library science titles. Books copublished by MLA and RLPG will be published under the Rowman & Littlefield imprint.
Rowman & Littlefield is thrilled to be associated with the world’s leading association of health information professionals. Executive Editor Charles Harmon said, “The opportunity to copublish professional books that will help librarians in hospitals, medical research practice, and other settings provide health care professionals and patients with accurate information that can improve outcomes and save lives is inspiring. I look forward to personally working with MLA staff and members.”
MLA will also continue to work with the American Library Association (ALA), which purchased MLA’s previous copublisher, Neal-Schuman, in 2012, on existing works.
Founded in 1898, MLA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, educational organization of 4,000 individual and institutional members in the health sciences information field that provides lifelong educational opportunities, supports a knowledgebase of health information research, and works with a global network of partners to promote the importance of quality information for improved health to the health care community and the public.
