2011 Librarians without Borders® Grant Awarded to the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences–Worcester
The goal of the training program is to improve access and utilization of HINARI resources at UCSM, while furthering the use of current, peer-reviewed publications in librarianship, teaching, and research. To achieve this goal, UCSM faculty and librarians will be trained to identify, access (search and retrieve efficiently), and utilize (integrate in curriculum or instruction) information from HINARI resources. The co-principal investigators will enhance the hands-on learning sessions by developing assessment instruments, relevant community-based case studies, exploratory hands-on exercises, and visual maps and processes illustrating HINARI resources and their effective use.
The award is funded by a three-year grant from FlySheet Med-Informatics, granted by the MLA International Cooperation Section, and administered by MLA. Funds are awarded for the support of health library–related projects in HINARI eligible countries. The 2009 LWB Grant was awarded to the University of Ibadan Medical Library, Nigeria, for the purchase of health sciences monographs and computer workstations. The 2010 LWB Grant was awarded to the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences Library for the purchase of an LCD projector, laptop computer, photocopier, and related supplies.
