to core member benefits, MLA's Institutional
Membership (which belongs to the library and does not move with an
individual) provides unique services targeted to your institution's

Expert assistance in finding qualified professionals to fill job vacancies
As an institutional member, you receive substantial discounts (more than
$135 per ad, guaranteed!) on job classifieds in the MLA
News. And we post ads to our MLANET Job
Opportunities and RSS feed (plus LinkedIn and Facebook) once a week, extra publicity for any position.
You can also list vacancies for free and meet with potential candidates
informally through our annual meeting Placement
Service.
Register up to 3 nonmember staff at individual member rates, and save
more than $90 per staff member. And, our Hall of Exhibits offers close
contact with vendors and their new technologies and services. You can also purchase an institutional site license to annual meeting content and share hundreds of posters, sessions, and speakers with staff.
We supply information and assistance to many government agencies (such as
NLM, Congress, and state legislatures); provide expert testimony on critical
issues that affect your institution; work for meaningful appropriations levels
for federal library-related programs; and provide support, publicity, and public
relations on behalf of your library. MLA also collaborates with more than 20
allied organizations (such as JCAHO).
Low-cost duplicate journal exchange
MLA's quarterly Exchange provides access to print journals no longer needed in other institutions, which members may exchange for the price of postage alone. Donate
surplus journals or replace journal issues in your collection with this
valuable resource.
Special rights and privileges for your institution's official representative
To take full advantage of all your membership benefits as an institution, you
designate an official contact in your library. Your official representative
votes on association business and elections, and is also eligible to serve on
or chair national, section,
and chapter committees and to hold elective
office at all levels.
