Clinical Information Librarian

The Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) invites applications for the position of clinical information librarian at the rank of instructor or assistant professor, depending on qualifications. The primary focus of this nontenure track faculty position is to support MCG’s clinical mission through planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of quality health information and instruction. The clinical information librarian provideslibrary education and information services for clinical clientele and needs in a technically sophisticated environment. This includes the development of goals and priorities based on the strategic plan of the library and the institution, development of new programs, continuing assessment of programs, proactive quality service to clientele, and keeping informed of library, campus, and university system‑wide issues. University of Maryland, Baltimore, Health Sciences and Human Services Library. Responsibilities: This faculty librarian plans, directs, and leads the resource sharing services units: borrowing, lending, and document delivery in the resources division. The librarian participates in establishing, implementing, and monitoring goals, tasks, policies, procedures, and services relating to the library’s resources and their delivery; oversees the department’s staff of library technicians; coordinates the department statistics and reports management; and participates in strategic planning for the division. This librarian serves as project manager for the institutional repository services to be offered to the campus by the library. The repository will promote the university’s mission by applying state-of-the-art technology to organize and present the intellectual work of the campus’s scholarly community.

Required: MLS from ALA-accredited school with minimum 3 years’ of post-MLS professional library experience, minimum 2 years’ experience supervising staff, demonstrated strong supervisory skills and strong services orientation, and demonstrated strong project management skills and excellent customer service skills. Excellent communication skills. Technical literacy in use of library technology and standard desktop applications; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and ability to motivate, establish priorities, and meet deadlines in a multitasking environment. Ability to prepare and present statistical and narrative reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all clients and enthusiasm for innovation and user-centered services.

Preferred: Supervisory experience in an interlibrary loan or document delivery unit in an academic, research, or special library; development and management of a library or institutional repository; metadata design and creation experience; database implementation experience; experience with ILLiad, DOCLINE, OCLC, and Aleph library systems; and experience with team projects, digital permissions, and creating digital repository content. New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and its affiliated academic medical centers announce their search for the director of the medical library and knowledge informatics.
