Program Goal and Objectives
The Goal
To enhance the knowledge of electronic publishing and to explore the issues,
perceptions, experiences, benefits, potential pitfalls, and challenges
facing librarians as they confront these revolutionary changes in knowledge-based
information delivery.
The Objectives
- To provide a fundamental knowledge about electronic publishing;
- To make health sciences librarians aware of what is happening in electronic
publishing;
- To show what electronic publications are currently available;
- To inform health sciences librarians of the issues surrounding electronic
publishing;
- To educate health sciences librarians concerning benefits and pitfalls
of electronic publishing, and to offer some potential solutions for
licensing, archiving, copyright, etc;
- To articulate how availability and acceptance of electronic publishing
may be different in hospital and academic library settings.
