Worksheet 2 - Planning for interactivity

  • What modes of communication do you intend to employ in your course?

  • What level of communication do you plan to have with the students as they complete the course?

  • Will you include synchronous segments in your online course? If so, will they be required? How will you arrange these with students?

  • Will you maintain "office hours"? If so, how many days/hours a week will you be available?

  • How frequently will you "check-in" with students? Is this via email? Conference call? Chat? Other?

  • Is there benefit in having students interact with each other throughout the course? If so, what strategies will you incorporate to foster this interaction? (see Communication ideas)

  • How will students know whether they are understanding the material? Will students be required to complete exercises as they progress through the course? Will you provide students with individualized or automated feedback for these exercises?
