Getting paid

Depending on how you offer your course, you may have to incur fees for registration and hosting. If you use some sort of service for registering students (see Registration), you may have to negotiate how, when, and how much you are paid. Find out whether the service will take out taxes and report your income to the IRS or if you are responsible for doing that yourself. If you are handling registration directly, you will have to report your earnings on your income tax returns. If you are teaching with one or more other instructors, this could get tricky. You may want to contact an income tax professional if you have questions.
