Scott Garrison earned his Master of Library Science degree from UCLA. Having worked in health sciences library systems and IT management from 1994 to 2003, he is currently Associate Dean for Public Services and Technology at Western Michigan University Libraries. Garrison has taught in-person continuing education courses for librarians on several topics in four countries since 1996. As adjunct faculty at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science (SILS), he has co-taught the online distance education course Demystifying Open Source Software for Librarians with Eric Schnell, using the Blackboard course management system.
