Having the software skills to create data visualizations is one thing. Understanding the difference between a poorly designed visualization and a well-designed visualization is another. Introduction to Visualization Principles gives you both!
Data visualization is not just a matter of presenting information in an attractive, clear form. It is also important in generating hypotheses and making new discoveries, analyzing and interpreting results, and preserving and curating information. This is why it is so important to know the visualization type that is best for a particular purpose or question.
You will leave the course knowing best practices and principles for data visualization and having the skills to create basic visualizations in Excel and Tableau Public. You will be able to assist others in creating data visualization, and, perhaps surprisingly, you will develop data management skills, because the principles of data visualization are relevant to organizing and analyzing data. No prior knowledge or experience is needed.
