OSTP Records Progress on Science, Technology, and Innovation

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has released its “Exit Memo,” highlighting the impact President Obama’s policies have had on science and technology. The memo highlights research initiatives created over the last eight years, such as the Precision Medicine Initiative and efforts to increase public access to the results of federally funded scientific research.

MLA has strongly supported the President's science and technology initiatives, including efforts to develop public access policies by federal agencies with more than $100M in R&D expenditures, and efforts to create Federal data policies to enable shared services, data engagement, and forward-leaning data practices.

The OSTP's January 9, 2017 report on the progress toward the development and implementation of policies to increase public access to the results of federally funded scientific research can be found here.

The OSTP has published several principles that promote access to Federal government-supported scientific data and research findings for international scientific cooperation and will support progress in this area going forward. The document can be found here.

The OSTP's Record of Progress on Science, Technology, and Innovation over the last eight years can be found here.
