MLA Awards and Honors
MLA Award for Distinguished Public Service
The MLA Award for Distinguished Public Service was established in 1988
to honor persons whose exemplary actions have served to advance the health,
welfare, and intellectual freedom of the public. Awardees are selected
by the Board of Directors only on occasions when the merits of a nominee
clearly recommend recognition by MLA. Nomineees are not limited to members
of the library and information sciences profession nor to the association's
membership.
