e-Conference Benefits
E-conference registration enables health sciences information librarians and related professionals to participate in the MLA meeting without the need to travel. While it is not a substitute for actually being at the meeting in person with colleagues, it is the next best thing to being there.
Online content is close to live because plenary session videos are posted online within 24 hours. This enables e-conference participants to share the enthusiasm and discussion via the MLA '12 Blog and Twitter. For example, video for Sunday morning's keynote McGovern lecture by Steven Johnson ("Where Good Ideas Come From") will be available on Monday.
e-conference registration provides access for one person to all online meeting content, which is almost the full 2012 MLA annual meeting. For a list of programs, please see the Preliminary Program.
e-Conference provides:
- Plenary sessions, keynote McGovern lecture, Janet Doe lecture by Mark Funk, AHIP, FMLA, business meetings, and the Wednesday morning lecture by T.R. Reid via streaming video
- Section programs via audio recordings synchronized with PowerPoint presentations (posted within 2 weeks, to allow time for editing)
- 200 posters on a wide range of topics
- Abstracts
- Online scheduler with powerful search features to enable you to easily find and build a personalized schedule of interesting sessions
- Directory of the Hall of Exhibits with a searchable product database so you can easily link up with needed vendors
- Access to the online content the way you want, on your PC, smart phone, or MP3 device
Organizations that like to host their own group educational or lunch sessions can purchase a site license registration. For MLA member institutions, the cost is $500 for the first 25 users. For more information, please see the site license registration form.
When you can't travel to the meeting, we want e-conference to meet your needs. If you would like more information or have comments, feel free to contact Susan Chesniak or Ray Naegele.
