to the MLA '11 Annual Meeting Twitter Exercise
| Twitter will be heavily used at the MLA '11 annual meeting to create discussion and connect with colleagues. Attendees will be engaged in dialogue following each plenary session on Twitter. This exercise will provide a basic understanding of Twitter so that attendees can make the most of the annual meeting. Support for this exercise will be provided April 25–29. Attendees who complete this exercise by 11:59 p.m. PST on April 29 will receive a free drink ticket to the tweet-up to be held on Tuesday, May 17, at 6:00 p.m. A tweet-up is a time to meet in person with all the attendees you will have been tweeting with during the conference. At the tweet-up attendees will come together and meet in person people they have interacted with on Twitter.
Disclaimer: This exercise will require a computer and Internet connection that can reach certain social networking sites. If your organization blocks these sites, you will need to complete this exercise at a location with open Internet access.
Step 1: Create an account
- If you already have a Twitter account, please go to step 2.
- Go to http://www.twitter.com
- Click the "Sign Up" button.
- Complete the form to create your account.
