Is this your first MLA annual meeting? Would you like to meet MLA leaders? Then join the MLA Membership Committee for its annual New Members/First-time Attendees Program and Breakfast. This ticketed event will be held on Sunday, May 15, at 7:00 a.m. The program will begin promptly at 7:30. To receive a free ticket to this event, please check the box on the registration form. Email invitations will be sent before the meeting. You must RSVP to gain admittance.
Chapter Council Presents Chapter Sharing Roundtables

Optional ticketed event. You must register in advance. There will be no onsite registration. A lunch ticket is required to participate in a discussion and costs $28. Register by topic number. Registrations without a topic number will not be processed.
Attend the Chapter Council Presents Chapter Sharing Roundtables for lunch and informal discussions on a variety of topics. Lunch will be a plated meal including salad, entrée, and dessert. Please indicate dietary restrictions on your registration form.
MLA offers one free lunch ticket per topic to new members (MLA member for five years or less) who register for the meeting via the online registration system. Tickets are paid through chapter donations and MLA and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In the optional ticket section of the online registration form, select Chapter Council Presents Sharing Roundtable “free lunch.” Select your desired topic from the drop-down box. If your desired topic is grayed out, the free lunch for this topic has already been taken; however, tickets for this topic are still available for purchase. The roundtable free ticket will be added to your registration and show on your confirmation letter with a price of zero. When you arrive at the meeting, you will receive a lunch ticket with your selected topic printed on it. At the lunch, you must sit at the table for your designated topic. Each table facilitator will have a roster to check attendance. If your plans change and you cannot attend the lunch, please cancel so that the free ticket will be available for another attendee. Facilitators and recorders will be at each table to initiate discussion and to document the discussion for posting on the Chapter Council website (www .chaptercouncil.mlanet.org). Facilitators and recorders earn one point toward membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals for completing these activities. If you would like to share your skills and expertise as a facilitator or a recorder, please email Angela Dixon at Angela_Dixon@URMC.Rochester.edu.

Scholarly Communications
The Ad Hoc Committee for Advocating Scholarly Communications will present the results of its 2011 survey and engage participants in a discussion of the impact of open access and public access policies on collection development decisions and the ways the National Institutes of Health public access policy benefits the mission of the library.
MegaMeeting Instruction
MLA and its instructors, units, and chapters can use MegaMeeting software to conduct virtual meetings and continuing education courses. MLA staff member Kate Corcoran will discuss how to use this software for a variety of applications.
Rising Stars
The MLA Emerging Leaders Task Force will present a review of the MLA “Rising Stars” leadership development pilot program, including presentations by rising stars Karen Hanus, AHIP, assistant director, Libraries, Medical College of Wisconsin–Milwaukee; Emily Hurst, technology coordinator, HAM-TMC Library, Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center–Houston; Rex Robison, informationist, NIH Library, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD; and Robert Johnson, research librarian, Nursing, Science Library, University of California–Irvine, concerning their projects.
