Whether you are seeking an entry-level position, an opportunity for advancement, a change of scenery, or a highly qualified employee, take advantage of the Job Placement Center.

Individual job seekers and employers must register with the Job Placement Center by completing the forms noted below or by calling 312.419.9094 x13, or emailing mlams2@mlahq.org (please use “Job Placement Center” in subject line).

All forms will be accepted whether or not you are able to attend MLA ’08. Only employers are assessed fees for participating; there is no fee for job seekers.

The deadline for all forms is May 12, 2008. After May 12, 2008, please bring all forms to the placement center. In addition to the onsite Job Placement Center, employers can post job opportunities on the MLA ’08 Website for $100.00 for 2 months. The special May meeting edition of the MLA News provides an additional opportunity to place job postings.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Administration Principal function will be management or administration.
Technical Services Duties will entail preservation, collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, planning and maintenance of library automated systems, or all or any of the above.
Public Services Duties will include circulation, reference, online searching, interlibrary loan, education, audiovisual services, or all or any of the above.

To top of page MLA Personalized Résumé Clinic

The MLA Professional Recruitment and Retention Committee (PRRC) is pleased to sponsor, in conjunction with the MLA Placement Center, the first Annual Meeting Personalized Résumé Clinic. The PRRC needs volunteer reviewers willing to spend one hour minimum assisting members with improving the creation of their cover letters and résumés. If you receive cover letters and résumés on a  regular basis (directors, associate directors, human resources officers, etc.),  we encourage you help out. Each participant will have fifteen to twenty minutes with a reviewer. During that time, the reviewer will critique the résumé and cover letter and offer tips and advice for improvement. If you would be willing to serve as a reviewer, please contact Carolyn Warmann Carolyn.warmann@usd.edu , who will work with you to set up a time slot for service.  If you would like to set up an appointment to have your résumé and cover letter reviewed, contact Craig Haynes, chaynes@ucsd.edu. Drop-ins are also welcome­-just bring along a hard copy of your cover letter and résumé.

These hours have been selected to avoid conflict with major conference events.
