MLA '05: Travel to and within San Antonio

Hotel Parking: The Marriott Rivercenter and Riverwalk are just steps away from unique dining, shopping, and famous historical attractions such as the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Parking is available at the hotel. Self-parking is $16 per day, and valet parking is $21 per day (prices subject to change).

Airport Information: San Antonio International Airport is approximately eight miles from the downtown Riverwalk and is directly linked via US Highway 281.

Shuttle: Contact SATRANS at 800.868.7707; www.saairportshuttle.com. Regular shuttle service runs daily from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. Service between the airport and downtown hotels is $9 one way and $16 round trip (prices subject to change).

Taxi: The typical fare to downtown is $13.40–$14.40 (prices subject to change).

Rail: The San Antonio Amtrak station is located at 350 Hoefgen Street. Call 800.872.7245 or visit www.texaseagle.com to plan your trip.

  • Downtown travel is a breeze on the VIA streetcar, an open-air, authentic reproduction of a rail streetcar that traveled the streets of San Antonio more than fifty years ago.
  • Four routes go to downtown locations, including the Alamo, Spanish Governor's Palace, La Villita, Sunset Station, Southwest School of Art and Craft, Institute of Texan Cultures, the King William area, and shopping.
  • Find access to all routes from the downtown streetcar station on Convention Plaza.
  • Streetcars run from early morning until late evening with stops conveniently located throughout downtown.
  • Streetcars come by each stop about every ten minutes, so you never have to wait long!
  • The current fare is eighty cents.
