Investigate scientific concepts and terminology
related to the molecular and genetic causes of cancer and the potential
for molecular treatments such as gene and anti-sense therapies.
Start with a basic introduction to the cell and topics such as DNA
synthesis, repair, transcription, and translation. Entities such
as oncogenes, proto-oncogenes, and tumor suppressors will be introduced
and related to different types of cancer. Reinforce vocabulary and
search terminology (Medical Subject Headings) and be introduced
to a variety of basic resources.
