Explore the essential aspects of the law that
influence the activities, decisions, and practice environments of
medical library professionals. Understand the basic framework of
US legal authority, procedure, and content. Review statutory and
case law regarding intellectual freedom and intellectual property
in their application to cyberspace. Discuss the USA PATRIOT Act,
the Freedom of Information Act, the Digital Millennium Copyright
Act, and basic principles of copyright, patent, and trademark. Learn
the law of research, the law of privacy, the law of disabilities,
and the law of public health.
