Task Force to Plan Recruitment of the 21st Century Workforce of Health
Information Professionals
Draft Plan, September 2002
|
From task force chair Elizabeth Irish: We've
all heard the grim prognosis: librarianship is a graying profession
and there just aren't enough people entering our field to fill the
ranks of opening and new positions. The Task Force to Plan Recruitment
of the 21st Century Workforce of Health Information Professionals
was formed to address how we can meet the recruitment challenge.
The Task Force has been working for almost a year
creating goals and objectives and soliciting feedback from committees,
sections, and members. As we approach our final planning stages,
we want to hear from you! Please take some time to read the current
draft report and to post your comments in the Web-based comments
area. All comments are welcome, but we're especially interested
in:
- Do the overall goals of the plan seem reasonable
to you?
- Which of the objectives
listed do you see as the highest priority?
- Are their objectives listed that you would consider
to be unrealistic?
- Have we missed a recruitment concept that can
be incorporated into the plan?
- Are there potential partnerships that we have
overlooked?
- What recruitment activities have you participated
in and how successful have they been?
Thank you for taking the time to respond! The comment
section will be active until December 31, 2002.
