To top of page Goal 1. Professional Development

  • The Public Health/Health Administration (PH/HA) Libraries Section is co-sponsoring three programs for the 2000 Annual Meeting of the Medical Library Association. The three programs are entitled:
    • Tracking the gray literature: capturing the elusive dragon; tracking the noncommercially published literature and making it available
    • Outreach to public health professionals: demystifying the dragon of population-based service
    • Life-long learning: information competencies for the health practitioner

To top of page Goal 3. Organization

  • The PH/HA section added a new committee position that of Continuing Education Chair and filled a vacant position of Section Council Alternate.
  • A slate of candidates were proposed and voted on for election for 2000/01.

To top of page Goal 5. National Information Policy

  • The section put its newsletter on the Web to publicize public health and health administration issues important to section members.
  • The section is actively pursuing the issue of grey literature in health sciences – particularly in public health through its MLA program, "Tracking the gray literature: capturing the elusive dragon; tracking the noncommercially published literature and making it available" and by creating an ongoing column on grey literature issues in the PH/HA newsletter.

To top of page Goal 6. Information Technology

  • The PH/HA newsletter moved to a completely electronic format with two issues published on the PH/HA Website.
  • The newsletter and Website were moved to the MLA Website improving access for the Webmaster and allowing for timely updates of the newsletter and the Website overall.
  • Instructions on how to join the PH/HA mailing list were posted to the Website so that all members will have access.
