History of the Health Sciences Section

Goal 1. Professional Development

Objective: Sponsor programs for MLA 2000.
Outcome: Two programs will be co-sponsored at MLA 2000: East/West: Merging Trend in Medical Therapeutics, May 9, 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.; Recording for the Future: Demystifying the Oral History Process, May 7, 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

Goal 2. Organization

Objective: Increase section membership and membership activity.
Outcome: A new promotional brochure is being designed. A mailing campaign will begin next year.

Objective: Initiate an email discussion list for the section membership.
Outcome: Success! The list was established February 2000. Communication with section members has improved 100%.

Objective: Hold election for Section Council Representative.
Outcome: Stephen Greenberg was reelected to Section Council for three years (6/00 – 5/03).

Objective: Continue to publish the section newsletter twice a year.
Outcome: One issue has been published. A second issue will be distributed before MLA 2000.

Goal 4. Research

Objective: Continue to encourage submissions to the Murray Gottlieb Award.
Outcome: More effort will be put into this activity in 2000-01.
