Federal Libraries Section
Goal 1. Professional Development
- Offer programs to promote the professional development for Section
members.
- Accomplished. The Program Chair has finalized two program offerings
for FLS at the Vancouver, BC, meeting. One is a combined paper
session with the Hospital Libraries Section on surviving the stress
of doing more with less. The other offering is in conjunction
with the Research Section on Evidence-based Librarianship.
Goal 2. Advocacy
- Publish the Library Link newsletter twice per year in
print and electronic versions.
- Accomplished.
- Assertively recruit new members for the Section to attain a
well balanced representation of as many federal agencies as possible.
- Accomplished. Electronic mail list has been established to
reach a wider audience of the federal community.
- Foster leadership roles through mentoring programs to ensure
continued quality federal librarian leadership into the 21st
century.
- In process. Partnering with the University of Maryland, Walter
Reed Army Medical Center is developing a program.
Goal 3. Organization 
- Update and maintain an accurate roster of FLS membership to
enable delivery of new or updated information to supplement the
Newsletter.
- Accomplished.
Goal 5. Information Technology
- Complete followup of previously submitted application for an
MLA section listserv and utilize the Website for announcement
of mentoring programs and guidelines.
- Accomplished. The FLS Section has an established mail list
with MLA at: FLS@mlahq.org
